I inherited these from under Dad's bench. I didn't want to throw them away, even though I prefer to turn local hardwoods from trees that have fallen or been felled for disease. The pernambuco has an orange heartwood and a pale creamy sapwood, and comes from Pernambuco in Brazil. This one had a fairly large beetle grub burrow. The zebrano is also from Brazil, and smells (well stinks, actually) of ripe Camembert cheese when being turned. Luckily I like Cambembert!
The small grass tree root "pot" was interesting to turn, but very, very dusty. Mike Holton had a much larger piece than I did which he makes into a lovely vase.
