I made this around 1991. Partidge wood has a fancied resemblence to the plumage of the bird, but it has darkened with age and it's now hard to see the speckles. Dad suggested I try something adventurous. It wasn't too adventurous as I stuck pieces of pine on so that I was working with a nice round section while turning and sanding, and the pine pieces were removed afterwards!
