This was a piece from under Dad's bench. He started turning it as a wedding present for a cousin of mine, but had a gouge dig when starting hollowing out, and broke the foot. I managed to get it back on a faceplate, made a new recessed dovetail foot, and cleaned up the outside. Turning it smells a little of nutmeg. Unfortunately while hollowing out I got a little too thin, and a bit of tool chatter dug a shade too deep, leaving a small hole. Other than this and a few tool marks on the inside as I didn't want to risk sanding too much and making the situation worse it's a lovely bowl to look at. I priced up a blank to see if I could have another go, but blanks this size are over £100 so I decided not to!
