Birch is a fairly plain wood, and I wouldn't normally have turned it, but I came across a couple of pieces on the firewood pile, and I wondered if I could make something larger by gluing two bits together. I planed them as best I could (holding logs while you work on them is not too easy), glued them up, and started turning to see what I could see. It turned into a nicely shaped platter, with a bit of "interest" from some knots that can be seen in the title picture.

Currently being exhibited in a local craft shop.
