Dad made a coffee table for my brother many years ago. With some of the offcuts he made several of these layered oak blanks. Two I made into bowls, but this one was taller, and I though a lidded pot would be nice to try.
The blank contained some sapwood which had been worm damaged, so the pot ended up a little shorter than I had planned, but as this was a well seasoned piece (some twenty years under the bench) I was able to make the walls reasonably thin, and the pot and lid have both stayed stable, so the fit is still nice a year after it was made.
