I saw Mike Holton make a laburnum vase with this sort of interesting shape where it looks like a piece of the vase is growing out of the main vase. In another of his videos he was ebonising some wood which looked interesting. Oak ebonises well thanks to the high tannin content, although there is a subtle change of shade between the heartwood (more tannins) and the sapwood as this is from quite a small log.
